Job Purpose:
To lead and manage all heating installation activities across allocated contracts, ensuring delivery is safe, compliant, on time, and within budget. The role is responsible for operational performance, team leadership, and client satisfaction, while supporting commercial control and continuous improvement across the department.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Delivery
- Lead the delivery of planned and reactive heating replacement programmes (including BER works) for as, Oil and Renewable fuel types in line with contract requirements
- Plan, forecast, and manage workloads, labour, and materials to meet programme deadlines
- Ensure all installation works are delivered in line with company procedures, quality standards, and operational protocols
- Oversee surveying, heat loss calculations, and post-install inspections through the relevant team
Commercial & Financial Control
- Manage costing of works, including schedule of rates and contract cost books
- Review and approve variations in line with contractual agreements
- Support the commercial team with valuations and financial reporting
- Monitor departmental performance, contributing to P&L control and cost efficiency
Leadership & People Management
- Manage, support, and develop Supervisors, Engineers, and Administration staff
- Take ownership of employee relations, including performance management and disciplinary processes
- Deliver regular toolbox talks and team meetings
- Support ongoing training and development across operational and admin teams
Quality, Compliance & Technical Oversight
- Ensure all works meet required compliance, certification, and safety standards
- Carry out regular site audits to ensure quality and adherence to company procedures
- Provide technical guidance and resolve complex operational issues
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring a high level of service delivery
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide regular updates and reports to the Regional Delivery Manager and Head of M&E
Skills/Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing heating installation or M&E works within social housing or refurbishment programmes
- Strong understanding of planned works and reactive maintenance delivery
- Experience managing budgets, cost control, and variations
- People management experience, including performance and ER processes
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and compliance requirements
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Desirable:
- Relevant qualifications (C&G, NVQ, or equivalent in plumbing/heating or M&E)
- Experience with surveying, heat loss calculations, and technical auditing
- Knowledge of retrofit or energy efficiency programmes
